Stray Kids to Release Pre-Debut Album 'Mixtape' on January 8, 2018

    - 'Mixtape', a 7-track self-composed album before their official debut, reveals their raw potential!

    - From electronica to hip-hop! Fresh sounds from 9 JYP talents

    - JYP's rookie boy group 'Stray Kids', born through Mnet [Stray Kids], is set to take off in 2018!

JYP Entertainment's rookie group Stray Kids will release their pre-debut album "Mixtape" on January 8, 2018.

Stray Kids is a boy group selected through the reality program "Stray Kids," which premiered on JYP and Mnet in October 2017, and consists of nine members: Bangchan, Kim Woojin, Lee Minho, Seo Changbin, Hwang Hyunjin, Han Jisung, Philix, Kim Seungmin, and Yang Jungin.

Just like their name, which means "to go off the beaten path," Stray Kids presents a differentiated personality and freedom through their music. In their debut broadcast, "Stray Kids," the members not only wrote songs but also participated in various aspects of production, concept, and performance. Stray Kids performed all five missions with self-written songs and secured their debut with a nine-member lineup that was judged to be the most complete.

Ahead of their official debut, Stray Kids, the nine-member boy group responsible for the future of JYP, will be releasing a seven-track album titled "Mixtape," featuring all of their self-written songs. "Mixtape" is composed of the self-written songs that Stray Kids performed on the program "Stray Kids," and includes the title track "Hellevator," which was previously released as a digital single on November 1, as well as the songs "Grrr Law of Total Amount," "Young Wings," "YAYAYA," "GLOW," "School Life," and "4419.

Stray Kids covers a wide range of genres, from electronica to hip-hop, and adds a new sound and fresh performance to each song. The title track "Hellevator" is a combination of the meanings of "Hell" and "Elevator," and is a statement of Stray Kids' intentions to reach the top through times of pain and hard work. The members organized a tight flow to harmonize the dark atmosphere with the melody, and added different changes to the hook melodies in the first and second verses to create a dynamic feel.

In addition, the music video for "Hellevator," which features the personalities and powerful performances of the nine members, received over 13 million views on YouTube, attracting the attention of music fans at home and abroad.

In addition, the album "Mixtape" features "Grrr Law of Total Amount," a hip-hop song that interprets the rebelliousness of teenagers in a new light; "Young Wings," which expresses the psychology of young people who pretend to be adults because they don't want to look young, but are afraid to grow up; and "YAYAYA," a powerful song that tells the story of "me" who dreams of a successful future in the real world with both anxiety and confidence, "GLOW," a ballad that tells the autobiographical story of Stray Kids members running toward their dreams; "School Life," which uses witty analogies and empathetic expressions to describe the boring lives of students who are tired of repetitive school life; and "4419," a lyrical track that features a bus ride with a childhood friend and a real-life story that makes up the verses.

Stray Kids took their first steps in 2018 with "Mixtape," a record full of raw, unrefined potential, before hitting the music scene in earnest. It will be interesting to see if the nine gemstones who will follow in the footsteps of JYP's artists will be able to take wing and make waves in the music industry.
